A successful and well-established, privately owned industrial services business near Wigton is seeking to appoint a capable and motivated Finance Assistant to support its growing finance function.
Operating within a specialist engineering and heavy equipment environment, the business has built an excellent reputation across the UK for delivering high-quality services within demanding industrial sectors. Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen for an organised and commercially aware finance professional to join a supportive and collaborative team.
Working closely with the Finance Manager, this role offers genuine variety and the opportunity to become involved in both transactional and management accounting responsibilities within a fast-paced operational business.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
- Producing customer invoices accurately and efficiently
- Managing aged debt reporting and debtor accounts
- Conducting customer credit checks
- Preparing financial reports, summaries, and analysis for senior management
- Supporting audits and maintaining internal financial controls
- Responding to finance-related queries from internal and external stakeholders
The Ideal Candidate
Applications are welcomed from individuals who:
- Have 2+ years previous experience within a similar level finance or accounting support role
- Confident, hand on experience of month end processes - journal entries, accruals and prepayments minimum (Essential)
- AAT qualified or actively studying towards qualification (highly desirable)
- Possess strong Excel and accounting systems experience
- Demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills
- Are proactive, detail-focused, and capable of managing multiple priorities
- Can handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
Experience of using QuickBooks would be advantageous, although not essential.

- Salary circa £32,000 - £35,000 depending on experience
